Lansing Municipal Airport has been in a process of development for the past 20 years. The Village of Lansing sponsored this effort primarily to promote the airport as an economic development tool for the southern suburbs of Chicago. A parallel and equal goal has been to modernized the facility into a safe and efficient airport equal to its Cook County counterparts in the reliever category. Lansing Municipal Airport will remain unique because of its historical significance which we have been endeavoring to maintain, and its location in southern Cook County; less than 15 miles by highway from the city limits of Chicago.

Lansing Municipal Airport's new Runway 18-36 is now fully operational. With the new 4002-foot runway in place, the airport is able to service business and tourism needs for visitors and pilots traveling to the region. The airport has considerable frontage land available for airport related development along Burnham Avenue.

A Practical Alternative

Lansing Municipal Airport (IGQ) is an attractive alternative for corporate or private aircraft flying into the Chicagoland region.

A designated reliever to Chicago's major airports, Lansing Municipal Airport is located in Lansing, Illinois, one of the 60 south and southwest suburbs known as the "Chicago Southland". The airport is minutes away from a network of expressways leading to downtown Chicago and neighboring communities.

Lansing Municipal Airport is an uncontrolled facility supported by two paved and lighted runways, parallel taxiways, large concrete apron and a wide selection of hangars.

The airport registers over 75,000 operations annually. The operations result from corporate, private, and transient activity. Over 160 Aircraft are currently based at Lansing.

IGQ 2008 And Beyond

The new Airport Layout Plan (ALP), has been recently approved and will allow for a 1900-ft extension of Runway 18/36. The 1st Phase of the extension plan is scheduled to begin Fiscal Year 2009.

A 12-acre parcel of undeveloped land that we call the "Northeast Quadrant" has been recently developed for the purpose of new hangar construction.

If your business uses the national airways and is expanding, consider a move into the Cook County region. Both the communities of Lansing, and Lynwood, its neighbor on the south, are prepared to work with developers who would be interested in utilizing the available development sites. There is available land in and around the Lansing Municipal Airport to utilize for this purpose.

Several aircraft-related businesses provide full services at Lansing. Fuel, fixed wing and helicopter flight instruction, aircraft maintenance, passenger and freight charter flights, automobile rentals, and dining are available. The airport is located at the border of Lansing and its neighbor, Lynwood. It provides easy access to downtown Lansing and the other communities in "Chicago's Southland".
