A Letter to the Community
This is our 120th year of serving the community and we continue to make changes and improvements to our service. We could never have made these changes without the support of local governments and the citizens of our community. It is imperative that the organization works closely with the entire community in order to insure the needs of the community. Our goal is to serve and protect both life and property of the citizens and visitors of the Village of Lansing.
We currently have 24 hour staffing at three stations with our paid-on-call/full time staff of 42. Automatic and mutual aid with other communities has provided a stronger and immediate response to help insure the finest possible response is provided to our citizens when the emergency arises.
The Lansing Fire Department provides response to our residents for fire and emergency medical service needs on a 24 hour basis. Additionally, many members of our department possess a variety of specialty trainings so that we may provide the best possible response to the many emergencies that we may be called upon for. We have personnel trained in fire investigation, hazardous materials response and mitigation, dive emergencies, and technical rescue. Many of these members are also part of area wide (Mabas) specialty teams that provide these services as part of mutual aid teams.
The department also provides a number of other services to our residents including our smoke detector program for senior citizens, blood pressure checks at any of our fire stations, and CPR classes.
